AKSELROD MEYER
MOISEYEVICH.
1902-1970
Painter, graphic artist and scenographer. Studied
at the graphic art department of the Moscow Higher Institute of Art (1921-1927).
Began to show his works at exhibitions in 1921 (Minsk). His works were shown at
foreign exhibitions in Switzerland, Holland, France, Bulgaria, Poland and other
countries.
Stage design, book illustrations and design.
Painted: "Conversation at the Collective Farm" (1937), "Before
Fishing" (1958), "Harvesting" (1959), "The Portrait of Poet
B.A. Slutsky" (1964) and other pictures. Works of graphic art: "Self-portrait"
(1926), landscapes of the Crimea, the Caucasus and Moscow suburbs (1946-1956),
and other pieces. Akselrod's works are preserved in the Tretyakov Art Gallery,
the Kazan Art Gallery, the Odessa Art Museum, the State Central Theatre Museum
and other museums in the country. Displayed In the gallery is his picture "A
Landscape with Cottages" ("Summer Cottages") which was shown in
the Tretyakov Art Gallery In 1989 and at the exhibition In the Combined Art
Studios in Khimki in 1990.
